PopCap Studios has been home to months of quiet layoffs, according to VG247. PopCap has reportedly been letting go of staff for “several months” now, the news coming two days after Duke Nukem co-creator George Broussard’s warning of impending mass lay-offs and restructuring at the company via his Twitter account. According to Broussard, PopCap Dublin was shut down, Shanghai was “shrunk” and Seattle let go of 50 people.
In a blog post from PopCap co-founder John Vechey, the loss of 50 staff in Seattle was confirmed, and some possible restructuring plans within the studio’s Dublin office were also hinted at. EA representatives have come out stating that they do not make comments on rumors and speculation.
