It is the stuff that fanboy dreams are made of. Paul Gale Network is reporting that Retro Studios is gearing up to collide the universes of Metroid and Star Fox on the Wii U with the aptly named “Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga”. Believed to switch between a first person perspective as Samus and third-person as pilot Fox McCloud, there have even been whispers of playable Star Fox style sections with Samus’ ship. Nintendo has not confirmed the rumor, but such a game could make for an E3-defining reveal.

UPDATE (5/09/12): Microsoft has gone live with their subscription Xbox bundle, exclusively through its Microsoft storefronts. The bundle was as previously described: $100 for a 4GB 360 + Kinect, with a $15/month Xbox Live contract. (via MCV)

Original Story (5/03/12): The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is preparing a $100 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle, with a launch as early as next week. Allegedly, the bundle would contain a 4GB model of the console, an Xbox Live Gold subscription and the motion control peripheral, and would offset its ridiculously low asking price with a 2-year, $15/month contract. The contract includes a warranty “and possibly some additional streaming content from cable providers or sports package providers”, but would levy a fee for any premature cancellations.

Alexander O’Dwyer‘s (since removed) CV suggests that the latest in the United State Senate’s favorite-est franchise ever will release sometime this October, putting it on the front lines at the start of 2012′s crowded holiday season.

UPDATE: Game Informer Leaks ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ Setting

Friday, March 2nd, 2012 | Posted by Gavin Greene | 1 Comment

UPDATE: Ubisoft has confirmed both the game logo and the Revolutionary War time period rumored below, and has provided the game’s official box art. Assassin’s Creed III is now scheduled for release October 30th, with a full reveal next week.

Looks like the Assassins had a major hand in the American Revolution. That’s the buzz following the leak of several images surrounding Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III which, if the images sent to Kotaku by an unnamed Best Buy worker are accurate, will be officially unveiled on March 5th. A second image (screengrabbed by Toastervision, originally via NeoGAF,) all but confirms the time period, with the yet unnamed new – reportedly Native American – protagonist giving directions to George Washington during his famed crossing of the Delaware river. The second image looks more like a third-party photoshop job than any official Ubisoft press asset, but looks neat nonetheless.

In a fan newsletter, first spotted by fan news-site Stitch Kingdom, a sequel to the Wii’s Epic Mickey is on track for a 2012 release. Last we heard of a possible follow-up to the painting-platformer was in a focus group survey released by Disney last August (thanks Joystiq), where it was strongly hinted that Epic Mickey 2 could come to the Xbox 360 and PS3, and with a new co-operative campaign. Disney has confirmed neither the new features to Mickey nor the game itself.

With the success of Nintendo’s crossover Super Smash Bros series, we’re surprised it took this long for another first-party publisher to try their hand at the concept.
