A change in how Microsoft is dealing with Windows 8 app-store purchases suggest that Microsoft Points may no longer be used – at least to the exclusion of other currencies – in the future. The Verge reports that Microsoft Points will not be the default payment method for Windows 8, being replaced with direct, real money payments. MS points were used in the Windows 8 beta, and will still be available for use on the app-store, according to the report. No word yet on whether or not this change will be reflected on other Microsoft platforms like Xbox Live.
