Norman Corbiel, the composer who received AIAS and BAFTA awards for his work on theĀ Heavy RainĀ soundtrack, passed away last Friday from pancreatic cancer. This was confirmed by his son, who posted on The Cancer Forums: “My father, Normand Corbiel, 56, passed away today at 2:56 PM. He was a great composer and an amazing dad… I am in shock.”
According to 8bitfix, his son’s signature on the forums has been changed to read:
“- Dad, 56 diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer August 15, 2012.
– Dad passed away January 25, 2013 at 2:56 PM.”
Norman Corbiel has had a career of prestigious nominations – including two Emmys – and numerous awards. A full list of his nominations and victories can be found on his website. Corbiel’s last credit was his work on the score to Beyond: Two Souls, Quantic Dream’s follow up to Heavy Rain.
