Shortly after Steve Ballmer announced he would retire as Microsoft CEO, Ford CEO Alan Mulally reportedly was one of the front-runners to replace him. According to the Boston Globe, Mulally has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position.
“I would like to end the Microsoft speculation because I have no other plans to do anything than serve Ford,” Mulally said.
It was reported last November that the field of CEO candidates had been narrowed to four: Alan Mulally, Former Skype CTO Tony Bates, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. In December Microsoft announced it would be naming its new CEO early this year.
