Valve has announced today at its Developer Days event, that the Steam Controller has had several changes made to it since its announcement.
According to SteamDB, more changes will come to the controller as Valve processes beta feedback. The revamped controller will include a DPAD and ABXY buttons to increase backwards compatibility. As a result the retail controller will no longer have a touchscreen.
The final controller is expected to run on AA batteries so users can use rechargeable batteries. Biometrics will not be present as according to Valve the hands aren’t the best place to capture them. The company is however keeping VR in mind as it develops the controller.
