According to a post on the Lord of Ultima website, EA is shutting down the free-to-play title on the morning of May 12th.
“It is always hard when we are met with such choices and the decision to retire older games is never an easy one,” the post reads, in part. “We cannot thank those who have supported us enough, and throughout the years of Lord of Ultima’s existence it has been the pleasure of both past and present developers to have been on this journey with you.”
The post also encourages players that still have Play4Free currency before the game’s final day, and the function for purchasing anymore has already been disabled.
Lord of Ultima was developed by EA Phenomic, which was closed in July last year. A team of the studio’s veterans formed a new studio in November called Envision Entertainment.
