Bourne Identity director Doug Liman is close to signing a deal to direct the upcoming Splinter Cell film adaptation, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Liman is in final negotiations to direct the film, which is being developed by Ubisoft Motion Pictures in collaboration with New Regency. Tom Hardy is rumored to star in the film as Sam Fisher, with Eric Warren Singer reportedly tapped to write the script. The Hollywood Reporter claims Ubisoft plans to release the film in 2015.
Doug Liman’s previous work includes The Bourne Identity, Swingers and Go.
Ubisoft is also collaborating with New Regency to develop film adaptations on Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs.
