Kadokawa, the Japanese publisher of Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer Is Dead, has announced it plans to purchase a majority stake in Dark Souls developer From Software.
The deal will see Kadokawa purchase 80 percent of From Software stock, and it is expected to be finalized on May 21st. Once the deal is finalized, From Software will be a Kadokawa Games subsidiary and work alongside the publisher to develop its games as well as create new IP.
While From Software’s Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 were published to western markets by Bandai Namco, it self-published the titles in Japan. It is also the developer behind the Armored Core series, and collaborated on the Tenchu franchise.
