Nintendo has announced that it will once again skip a traditional E3 press conference this year, and instead showcase its games and announcements through a “digital event“.
In a statement, Nintendo said that this approach would give them “the best way to show its games and share its news with fans, media and other key audiences.”
At E3 2014 the company will also hold a Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS tournament at the Nokia Theatre LA LIVE, featuring 16 “highly skilled” players.” ‘Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3’ will feature a series of daily livestreams from the company’s E3 show floor booth, giving fans an inside look at the event.
“We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners,” Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement. “So, whether you’re attending E3 in person or joining online, there’s an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way.”
The Nintendo Digital Event will begin at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10th.
