Area 52 Games and Disney have cancelled Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, a free-to-play title first revealed in December 2013.
“We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons,” reads a post on the game’s Facebook page. “After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.”
Electronic Arts signed a deal with Disney in May 2013 which gave them exclusive rights to create and publish games in the Star Wars franchise for console and PC. Disney is still handling mobile, social and online titles. EA and DICE are currently developing Star Wars: Battlefront, with BioWare and Visceral Games working on unannounced Star Wars games as well.
