After being purchased by Facebook earlier this year, Oculus has made its own acquisition of the Carbon Design Group.
The group, which partnered with Microsoft on the design of the Xbox 360 controller, will become part of the Oculus product engineering team. It will continue to operate from its Seattle studio, and will also work closely with the Oculus R&D team in Redmond, Washington. According to a post on the Oculus blog, the company has been working with the Carbon Design Group “for nearly a year on multiple unannounced projects.”
“A few seconds with the latest Oculus prototypes and you know that virtual reality is for real this time. From a design and engineering perspective, building the products that finally deliver consumer virtual reality is one of the most interesting and challenging problem sets ever,” said Peter Bristol, Creative Director at Carbon Design, in part.
“We’re incredibly excited to be part of the team and we’re looking forward to helping design the future.”
