Destiny writer Joshua Rubin has announced his departure from Bungie, to join Telltale Games and work on its upcoming Game of Thrones game.
“Thrilled to share that, after two great years at Bungie, I’ve moved to sunny CA to join Telltale Games,” Rubin wrote on Twitter.
Speaking to Gamasutra, Rubin stated that he couldn’t turn down the offer from Telltale to work on a story focused game as opposed to Bungie’s shooters. “In the end, Bungie makes games about shooting aliens in the head. And while there’s a true art to ‘writing between the bullets’ – as Mr. Staten once said – I couldn’t turn down an offer from Telltale, to create games that are entirely about story,”
Before working at Bungie, Rubin had been a lead writer for Capcom, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games, and also wrote the script for Assassin’s Creed 2.
