Bandai Namco Games has announced that the Windows PC version of Dark Souls is switching from Games For Windows Live to Steam, and starting next month players will be able to migrate their game progress as well.
Starting in November, players will be able to redeem their Games for Windows Live tokens on Steam to get the game at no extra cost. Next month, players will also be able to transfer their save data including characters, progress, and achievements over to the Steam version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition.
Specific dates for the migration period have not been announced, but Bandai Namco states that players will still be able to redeem their Games For Windows Live tokens to redeem the Steam copy of Dark Souls after the migration period. Sava data and achievement progress transfers may not be available after this period though.
