Leonard Nimoy, well known to many as Mr. Spock from Star Trek in the 1960s, has passed away at his home in Los Angeles. Nimoy was 83 and his passing is attributed to end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Nimoy returned to the role of Mr. Spock in 2013 with the theatrical reboot of Star Trek opposite Zachary Quinto. In addition to his time both behind and in front of the camera, Nimoy lent his voice to a number of titles including Kingdom Hearts titles, Civilization V and a variety of Star Trek games.
Co-stars George Takei, William Shatner as well as many of his friends have expressed their condolences.
Nimoy’s final Twitter message was posted on February 23rd:
