Even though an official release date has yet to be announced, Blizzard has detailed the Collector’s Edition for the first episode of the StarCraft II trilogy. The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Collector’s Edition will be available at a suggested retail price of $99.99, which constitutes a $40 premium over the regular version. Besides the regular game, the package will include:
- A 176-page book containing artwork of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
- A 2Gb USB Flash-drive, preloaded with the original StarCraft from 1998, and the expansion pack to this game, StarCraft: Brood War from that same year. The flash-drive will be shaped as a replica of Jim Raynor’s dogtags.
- A CD containing the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack
- Exclusive customization options for Blizzard’s online portal ‘Battle.net’ as well as an in-game pet for use in World of Warcraft. This exclusive pet will resemble the Terran Heavy-Assault Mech known as the Thor.
- A StarCraft comic book issue #0, which forms a prequel to the comic series.
- A DVD containing over an hour of interviews with the developers as well as video footage of the game.
Blizzard Entertainment has stated that the final release date for Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will be announced in the comming weeks.
WE don’t know if SCII will cost $59.99, but seeing as how PC titles usually go for $49.99, it would be a $50 price hike.
After reading that, I think I am going to change my pre-order to the collectors edition, that is worth all the cash, considering that the original SC Battlechest goes for $20, and a Sound track would go for the same price, everything is justified.
Ok, I just read an article on the same subject, and they are saying that it is a suggested $60 title. That sucks, PC games are getting marked up, that sucks. But I am a sucker for awesome Collector’s Editions and Starcraft.
All prices are going up… but 59.99 isn’t unreasonable… and thats DEFINITELY a 40 dollar value for the CE.
