After only 2 months and 17 days of active service, Realtime Worlds has announced that the crime-based MMORPG All Points Bulletin will be shut down within the next 24 hours. Developer Realtime Worlds went into administration (the British equivalent of Chapter 11) last month, and has stated that despite having had negotiations with six different parties, no organization could be found who was comfortable with acquiring the game as a live operation.
Last month, Realtime Worlds indicated it was confident that a buyer would be found and that the service would continue. At that time, the game had approximately 130,000 registered users, with each paying customer spending an average of $28 per month on the game.
The news was announced via the All Points Bulletin message board by Community Officer Ben Bateman:
APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end. Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone’s best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It’s been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome!
From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support.
The servers are still up, so join the party and say goodbye!
I figured with all the bad reviews that came out. A shame their money went to waste.
