The industry’s biggest publisher has a lot on its plate for next year. Surprising no one, Activision announced via third-quarter earnings call that the next game in the massive blockbuster Call of Duty franchise will release in 2011. No word whether it will be Modern Warfare 3 or even which studio between Infinity Ward or Sledgehammer will be working on it, but Activision didn’t rest entirely on its first-person shooter laurels. X-Men Destiny, as well as new installments in the Spider-Man, Transformers and Guitar Hero franchises are also planned for next year.
“In the back-half of 2011, we’ll launch a new, large-scale Call of Duty first-person action title,” said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg. “The creative talent and resources that we now have devoted to the Call of Duty brand are unprecedented and given the gameplay we’ve seen to date, we could not be more excited about next year’s release.”
Well I anticipate this is Sledgehammer’s game. Now I am just wondering how many people are going to actually buy the game, as we have had a CoD game every year since the series started. Man that is a lot of CoD in one decade.
CoD Online, now with subscription fee!
😛
No thanks, Activison has enough money already. Also, an FPS doesn’t have enough content to even warrant a subscription fee.
Sledgehammer it is: http://planetcallofduty.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=162804
Anyways, with such a roster, seems like i’ll be not buying games from Activision for two years in a row.
