Microsoft has announced that it has sold more than 10 million Kinect sensors since November 4th, which is the day the motion-sensor was made available at retailers in North America. In addition, more 10 million titles that specifically use the peripheral have been sold to date, not including titles that came packaged with one of the available bundles.
Initial expectations of both Microsoft and industry experts were exceeded, as it managed to sell more than 2.5 million units before the end of the first month. Microsoft originally expected to move approximately 5 million units before the end of 2010, but ended up selling approximately 8 million by the end of the holiday season. In January, the Guinness World Record foundation recognized the motion sensor as the fastest selling consumer electronics device.
Earlier this week, Dance Central-developer Harmonix indicated that their Kinect-based title was outselling the multiplatform Rock Band 3, having sold more than 1.2 million titles in less than 3 months.
yay more than 10 million people buying the most ridiculous peripheral in gaming history…
