The music-rhythm genre may not be the most profitable one to get into these days, but Ubisoft is making a last ditch effort in the field with Rocksmith. The newly announced “music experience” aims to teach its players actual electric guitar skills. Rocksmith will ship with a 45-song tracklist, and will be compatible with most electric guitars via an amplifier pickup. Ubisoft is currently in negotiation with Gibson to create a $200 bundle with both the game and a real electric guitar.
“Guitar Hero is a party game. Rocksmith is a music experience,” said Ubisoft’s vice president of marketing, Tony Key. “The dream of playing guitar compared to how many follow through – there’s a big gap. We will create a new generation of guitar players.”
