An only somewhat serious interview question (translated by Hell Descent) yielded an interesting result when Vatra Games’ Radek Marek – Art Director on Silent Hill: Downpour – responded that, while Downpour won’t include multiplayer as Xbox 360 Magazine had asked, Konami was looking into a multiplayer-exclusive entry into the franchise for Xbox Live Arcade. Devin Shatsky, the game’s producer, then hit up the Hell Descent forums to confirm that Downpour will not have a multiplayer mode.
“At the moment there will be no multiplayer modes in Silent Hill: Downpour, but Konami are investigating a separate chapter devoted entirely to the Multiplayer…We do not know the details but it should be an XBLA title that most players have to survive in the town of Silent Hill.” Marek responded in the original interview.
“Whoever that Italian interviewer was either took Radeks comments completely out of context, or it was lost in translation,” Shatsky later confirmed on the forums. “As previously mentioned, we were (many moons ago) investigating a separate Multiplayer mode, but that was quickly extinguished when we costed it out and determined how much resource time it would detract from the core singleplayer experience.”
Soo…no separate multiplayer game either? That’s cool.
