Speaking to MCV, IO Interactive’s game director Tore Blystad confirmed that the developer has been overwhelmed by the success of Hitman: Sniper Challenge, a stand-alone pre-order incentive tied in with the upcoming Hitman: Absolution. According to him, the player currently ranked highest in the world has already clocked in hundreds of hours into the game. Blystad added that the studio is “very happy because that’s the essence of Hitman; it is made to be replayed.”
Asked whether this meant that the studio could one day make a full-fledged stand-alone title out of this, Blystad stated that this would depend on how it all turned out, but that if they “can find a way to make it work then I guess we will.”
