Valve has revealed Pipeline, a program that will provide guidance for teenagers seeking a career in the gaming industry. According to Valve managing director, Gabe Newell, Pipeline is also entirely run by teenagers.
The website for the service currently has an introduction video and some FAQ. The main disciplines the site will cover include art, sound design and filming. There will also be a dedicated forum where members can interact with the team.
The introductory video also explains that Pipeline is a way for Valve to experiment on how younger employees can integrate into the company.
“Pipeline is an experiment to see if we can take a group of high school students with minimal work experience and train them in the skills and methods necessary to be successful at a company like Valve,” the website explains, in part. “We want to establish a connection to the world of teenagers that are asking many questions about getting into the gaming industry. We look to answer many of these questions and are willing to reach out to the community and give them the information they need.”
