Warner Bros. is currently developing a Harry Potter spinoff film series based the book from the universe: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The company announced today that it also plans to make tie-in video games for the films.
J.K. Rowling is writing the screenplay for the first film and it will star the fictional author of the book it’s based on, Newt Scamander. The Fantastic Beasts films will take place 70 years prior to the Harry Potter series. The series is “neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling said in a press release today, in part.
“In addition to the film series, Fantastic Beasts will also be developed across [Warner Bros.’] video game, consumer products and digital initiatives businesses, including enhanced links with Pottermore.com, Rowlings digital online experience built around the Harry Potter stories,” Warner Bros. said, in part.”
