Microsoft and Machinima have responded to reports that surfaced yesterday over a paid Xbox One promotion, stating that the campaign was nothing out of the ordinary.
“This partnership between Machinima and Microsoft was a typical marketing partnership to promote Xbox One in December,” the joint statement issued to The Verge reads, in part. “The Xbox team does not review any specific content or provide feedback on content.”
“Any confidentiality provisions, terms or other guidelines are standard documents provided by Machinima. For clarity, confidentiality relates to the agreements themselves, not the existence of the promotion.”
It was revealed yesterday that Machinima and Microsoft were offering a $3CPM ($3 per thousand views) for Machinima partners that uploaded videos including footage of Xbox One games as well as mentioning the console verbally. Partners were also not allowed to include any negative comments about the Xbox One or Machinima or even reveal details of the agreement.
