Speaking to Forbes, Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has revealed that he decided to remove the game from all mobile marketplaces because people were getting addicted to the game.
“Flappy Bird was designed to play for a few minutes when you are relaxed,” Nguyen said, in part. “But it happened to become and addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever.”
After revealing to the Verge that the game was receiving an average of $50,000 in advertising revenue each day, Nguyen announced on Twitter that he would soon be removing the game from mobile stores.
“I am sorry Flappy Bird users, 22 hours from now, I will take Flappy Bird down,” the Twitter post read. “I cannot take this anymore.”
