Atari has announced it will be releasing two “re-imagined” horror titles based on the Haunted House and Alone in the Dark games, this fall.
The new Haunted House game is being developed by Italian studio Dreampainters, the developer behind Anna, a horror title for PC. Studio founder Allesandro Monopoli said earlier this year that Dreampainters was working on a “total reboot” of an old property from a major publisher.
The original Haunted House was released for the Atari 2600 in 1982.
According to the teaser website for Alone in the Dark: Illumination, the title is being developed by Pure. Alone in the Dark was first released in 1992 by Infogrames, and the most recent entry was released in 2008 under the same name for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC and Xbox 360.
According to Atari, both Haunted House and Alone in the Dark: Illumination will be shown at PAX Prime this month.
