According to a report by Sankei, translated by Siliconera, Capcom is suing Koei Tecmo for patent infringement.
The patent is related to a method of delivering expansion pack content to a released game where players can acquire new content by combining an existing title with its expansion. Capcom’s complaint is being aimed at Koei’s delivery of disc-based expansions to games in the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors franchises.
Capcom is seeking around 5 to 10 percent of the 980 million yen ($9.4 million) Koei Tecmo has earned on games using the feature. The company has also asked for sales to be halted on several Koei Tecmo games as well.
