Organizers for the PAX gaming festival recently announced the participation of Monkey Island series creator Ron Gilbert as this year’s keynote speaker, setting off the event that will be taking place September 4th to 6th at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. The Computer Game Hall of Famer will bring his two decades of experience to the festivities, including his work on many old-school Lucasarts adventure games like Maniac Mansion and the first two Monkey Island titles.
“This is an unbelievable moment for us,” commented Penny Arcade’s Robert Khoo. “I wasted an entire family vacation one year trying to figure out how to win that stupid spitting competition.” Gilbert joins an illustrious group of past PAX keynote speakers, including noted geek icon Wil Wheaton and innovative game designer Ken Levine.
