With the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 less than 3 weeks ago, Activision has released a statement boasting that the Call of Duty series as a whole has recently surpassed a total retail value of 3 Billion dollars. In total, over 55 million copies of any games in the Call of Duty series have been sold, with the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 single handedly contributing $550 million in the first five days following the game’s release on the 10th of November. The first Call of Duty game was released in late 2003, with a new instalment following each year.
