When I have a bowl of strawberries in front of me, I generally go for the largest, ripest-looking strawberry available. Most of the time, that huge, visually-delicious strawberry is too tart and I’m left wishing I picked one of its smaller brethren instead. Resident Evil 5 is that huge strawberry. It’s probably the largest budget title to be released in 2009 and clearly a lot of hard work and time has been put into it. Capcom jammed as much content and polish as possible into RE5, but in the end RE5 is just another bad game and I’m left with a tart taste in my mouth. I don’t recommend the game to anyone except lifelong fans of the series. Don’t buy it. Don’t! (more…)

PowerUp Forever is a twin stick shooter available on both Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Store.

PowerUp Forever is surprisingly not a game in which you power-up forever. Something you would think the developers would have taken into consideration when naming their game, but apparently they didn’t. There is a fair share of power-ups in this game yes, but they aren’t infinite and not even all that exiting. (more…)

Singleplayer Review

Before playing Killzone 2, I did my best to avoid all reviews, previews and screenshots in hopes of not ruining the experience when I came around to play and review it. With all the hype surrounding the game, it was no easy task. I can happily say K2 deserves the attention it gets. K2 is a fantastic first person shooter that exceeded my expectations on a number of levels. It has its flaws like any video game but the overall positive gaming experience far outweighs its foibles. Is Conan: The Cimmerian worth buying? That’s a tricky question. Not because of the game itself, but due to the fact that it’s available for free as abandonware. By today’s standards the game certainly isn’t that impressive. But back in 1991 when the game was made it was jaw-dropping. It certainly dropped mine. (more…)
