Epic Games announced a partnership with Valve’s online service “Steam” to provide a three-day weekend where all who download the multiplayer frag-fest Unreal Tournament 3 Black, will be able to play for free. The title, which includes the basic Unreal Tournament 3 game with the Titan pack of expanded content, is already available for pre-loading at www.steamgames.com. Those that purchase the hard disc version of Unreal Tournament 3 can enter a retail key by using the “Activate a Product on Steam” feature on the Steam client, and be automatically upgraded to the Black features for the full 3-day period.
The Titan pack adds a breadth of new content for the title, including new environments, the Titan mutator, the Greed and the Betrayal game modes, the Stealthbender vehicle, 50 new Steamworks achievements, as well as updates across the various weapons, characters, deployables, and other basic features of the IP. Also included in this new version is the game’s Patch 2.1, which fixes numerious bugs across the title, including mod support enhancements, various gameplay tweaks, and award progression when using custom maps and characters.
