One of the more anticipated Xbox Live releases of the summer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, has had its price point discounted 400 Microsoft Points from its original 1200 point tag, making the HD remake of the classic side-scrolling brawler available for only 800 Microsoft Points ($10.) Ubisoft has made the announcement only a few days before the downloadable title’s August 5th release, keeping the IP fresh in consumer’s minds for its upcoming retail.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is a high-definition enhancement in the vein of the recent Bionic Commando: Rearmed, bringing classic beat-em-up gameplay into the 21st century with HD visuals, online co-operative play for up to 4 players over Xbox Live, and tons more.

  1. I played the demo yesterday. It’s definitely not as good as the SNES version. The comment I left above was after watching the trailers and noticing that they added full 3D movement which just doesn’t fit with a side scrolling beat-em-up, and I was mostly right that it ruined the game, but I still think the scores I’ve been seeing around the internet (5.9 – 6.1) are way too harsh. I’d probably give it a 6.5-7, and in comparison the original would get an 8 or 9 from me.

Overall it’s a really bad remake, but I’m sure it could still be fun with a few friends.
