Apple recently stated that in a little less than 18 months, over 3 Billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store with the iPod Touch or iPhones. Early November, Apple announced that over 100.000 applications were available (both free and paid), of which roughly 20% was a game. A month earlier, in October 2009, Apple celebrated its 2 Billion download milestone.
Though the number of applications available for other platforms, such as Blackberries and Windows or Android-based telephones is growing steadily, Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently stated that “[w]e see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.”
But how many of those downloads were for free apps, proportionally, I wonder.
