Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime recently stated in an interview with Industry Gamers that he doesn’t believe that the motion controller for the Playstation 3,  Playstation Move, will succeed in drawing away customers from the Nintendo Wii. Despite the obvious advantages the Playstation 3 has when compared to the Nintendo Wii, such as HD-graphics and more powerful online-capabilities, Fils-Aime doubts the overall Playstation Move-strategy will prove succesfull in the long run.

“That’s the piece that to me is very interesting. So I’m a consumer and I’m having a great experience with my Wii. […] What’s going to motivate them to spend minimally $300 for a new [Playstation 3] system, plus minimally $100 for the Move motion bundle? So [as a consumer] now I’m into this for $400 and I still have to spend money on software. What’s going to motivate me to do that?”

In response to the in-depth presentation of the Playstation Move at the Game Developers Conference, Fils-Aime stated that “if imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then I’m blushing.”

        1. I’ll have to see how this works out when it gets into the hands of ACTUAL consumers. The fighting game in the background appears to be a recording (punch at :33 not registered, guy punches with left hand during neckhold – on-screen guy punches with right). That’s not anything new (was obviously done for Natal at E3 as well), but can’t wait to see how this’ll contribute to the gaming experience in the REAL world :)

      1. Any of you in freedom land able to tell me how much you actually see these commercials on actual TV? When a new one comes out do they stop doing the old ones forever?

  1. Really? Nintendo is skeptical about something Sony has done? This is news to Industry gamer? I could’ve told you that BEFORE the interview.

I bet Sony is skeptical of everything Nintendo does too.

And Microsoft is skeptical of both of them!
