The video game character born from a partially-eaten pizza has just turned 3o years old today, and the industry that has loved him for those three decades is celebrating in droves. Most notable on the guest list is Google’s front page, which boasts a fully-playable logo-based stage of the classic game (Elder-Geek also recommends hitting the “insert coin” button twice for some co-op action.) The original Pac-Man first hit the scene on this date in 1980, and both revolutionized the industry of its origin and gave the rest of pop culture a serious case of “Pac-Man Fever”.
Geeky side-note. This is also the 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. A great day indeed!
Yeah that was entertaining for Google’s front page. A full 255 levels, and the 256 level was the kill-screen.
I think you can even make it your homepage from now on. Google is mine personally… but now it may be http://www.google.com/pacman!
