A more dichotomous pair of reveals you’ll never see. Electronic Arts had its known lineup of games like Dead Space 2 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit on display at their conference at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, but the publisher also took time out to reveal a couple new projects coming down the pipeline. First was the latest from Grasshopper Manufacture, a self-described “psychological-action-thriller” Shadows of the Damned. The all-star development team behind the game include creative producer Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil 4), music composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), and lead designer Suda51 (Killer 7, No More Heroes). The game “follows a demon hunter [Garcia] deep into a hyper-twisted re-imagining of hell where he must rescue the love of his life by defeating the armies of darkness with the power of the light.”
Also announced at the show was a new title for the Nintendo 3DS, a gardening-simulation/photography game simply titled My Garden. EA Salt Lake Producer Phil Katz detailed the project: which features over 300 unique plants to collect and many different photo challenges along the way.
I am looking forward to seeing details on Shadows (not sure if the filter will catch it). We finally get to see the two years that Mikami and Suda have been working on. To top it off they got Akira Yamaoka to do the music.
My Garden is interesting. Yeah it is not a gritty game, but it has its merits. I really think EA was focusing on Japanese kids on this one with the Tanooki, and the three gardens available. I am interested in see their tech demo (as that is what some games turn out to be).
Is it just me, or is our protagonist Garcia here more than a little cross-eyed?
I’ve seen worse. Worse being that the characters eyes are bugged outward (opposite of cross-eyed).
