While it may lack the name recognition many other DS/Wii developers manage, Cing released a few cult favorite titles on Nintendo’s platforms before they filed for bankruptcy on March 1st. Kotaku reports that the company is over 200 million yen ($2.2 million) in debt. Former releases for Cing include Trace Memory, Little King’s Story, and Hotel Dusk Room 215, the sequel of which – Last Window - was released this January in Japan.

The latest US issue of Nintendo Power has revealed that Scribblenauts 2 will be released during Fall 2010. Despite rumors that Scribblenauts would make the transition to the Nintendo Wii, Scribblenauts 2 will be released for the Nintendo DS. Developer 5th Cell, which also worked on the original Scribblenauts that was released in September last year, will focus on revising the control scheme and creating a level-editor.
At this time, it is known that other new additions will include 120 new levels and approximately 10,000 new words. Furthermore, adjectives will available for use in the game and have the ability to influence items being created by the player. At this time, no further information is available. The April 2010 issue of Nintendo Power features an extensive cover story on Scribblenauts 2.

Even with the rumors of a DS-2 floating around in full force, Nintendo has pushed forward with its plan of bringing their larger sized, more ergonomic handheld to the Western market. The DSi XL, which comes with two 4.2 inch screens (93% bigger) and bigger stylus, will premiere on store shelves in the NTSC regions on March 28th at a $190 price point. The hardware will come pre-loaded with both DSiWare Brain Age games, Flip Note Studio, the DSi internet browser, and Photo Browser.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold has received a solid fan following since its 2008 Cartoon Network debut, garnering enough attention to become the latest video game adaptation featuring the Dark Knight. As with the original comic and television series, the video game features a co-op “team-up” motif with two or more superheroes joining forces to defeat villain masterminds. The game will also feature cross-platform functionality between its two versions (Nintendo DS and Wii) to unlock BAT-MITE as a playable character. An official description can be found after the jump.

Winners for the 2010 Annual Interactive Achievement Award (DICE awards) voted by the entire video game development community has been announced. Along with announcing top games of 2009, the Annual Interactive Achievement Awards has honored successful game designer and Activision co-founder, David Crane with the AIAS’ first Pioneer Award. Entertainment Software Association (ESA) founder, Douglas Lowenstein (Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon) was inducted into the Hall of Fame honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nintendo’s new hardcore rumors got another notch through into the mix, with an anonymous source stating that one of the companies to have received the reported early-release developer kits is The Pokemon Company, who are currently engaged with the product under Nintendo’s supervision. An inside source for the company recently let it slip to CVG that “It’s genuinely the best thing I think I’ve ever worked with. I can tell you that it’s got a ’tilt’ function that’s not dissimilar to iPhone, but does a lot more. We know that The Pokemon Company are getting special attention with it.”

Nintendo takes the lead in both hardware and software sales as the Nintendo Wii and New Super Mario Bros Wii takes the number one spot in the charts 3 and 2 months in a row respectively. Mass Effect 2 had a great 6 day run in January selling around 570,000 units (2 million internationally according to EA). On the flip side Bayonetta, although with it’s high praises didn’t make the top 10 list having been released the first week of January.

Earlier today, EA released a fiscal statement covering the third quarter of the financial year 2010, running from October 2009 through December 2009, that revealed the release window for seven IPs. Following major titles such as Dante’s Inferno and Dragon Age: Origins – Awakenings, both of which will still officially be released in the current financial year, EA will release Realtime Worlds’ MMO-shooter APB and Medal of Honor, currently under development by EA Los Angeles, in Q2 of the financial year (FY) 2011. This period runs from July until September 2010.
During FY Q3, which runs from October until December 2010, EA will release Crysis 2 as well as a currently unannounced instalment in the Need for Speed-series. Crysis 2 is currently in development for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 at Crytek Frankfurt, and will be set in New York city three years after the events of the original Crysis.
Lastly, Q4 of the financial year 2011, running from January 2011 until March, will see the release of Dead Space 2, an unannounced title in the Dragon Age series, a currently unnamed game being developed in cooperation with Epic Games and a unspecified action title that will be available for download. It is currently unclear whether the unspecified action title will only be available as a downloadable title. The title that is being developed in cooperation with Epic Games is rumored to be known as Bulletstorm and is being developed by Epic-owned studio People Can Fly. The currently unspecified Dragon Age title will be released for PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and handhelds platforms.
The statement did not provide any information on possible high-profile games for the Nintendo Wii.

One of the biggest television brands in the globe is looking to return to the gaming sphere. The British Broadcasting Corporation, or BBC, wants its most popular licenses, including; Dr. Who and Top Gear; on the Wii, DS, iPhone, and Facebook. This comes after the company’s 2005 disbandment of its Multimedia Division due to disappointment over boxed IP sales.

Capcom announced today that the Mega Man Zero Collection would be coming to the Nintendo DS handheld platform in the early Summer of 2010. The collection will consist of all 4 Mega Man Zero titles for the Game Boy Advance, which collectively sold over 500,000 copies in North America alone. Upon its release, the games were praised for returning to the roots of the series, though many reviewers said that the difficulty level might make them inacessible to some.

The NPD has updated the best selling games of all time list as of December 2009 (US sales numbers) and has added Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to the list coming in fourth place. The NPD has not yet release full sales data for all games, but have declared Wii Play the top selling game selling 11.1 million followed by Guitar Hero III at 10.2 million (all platforms), GTA: San Andreas at 9.8 million on (Xbox and Playstation 2) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at 8.82 million. The top 10* best selling games are as follows:

Despite James Cameron’s “Avatar” now fighting for the top grossing film of all time slot, the game version of the hyper-fable failed Ubisoft’s sales goals by a significant margin. Coming out a full two weeks before the film has been the reason most have attributed to the failure, the top brass at the publisher have mentioned that releasing licensed media in December has always been a risky move. Speaking shortly after the company slashed its guidance, CEO Yves Guillemot spoke on how the company has taken the hit.
