Though the Netflix Instant Watch service has been supported on the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii since November 2009 and April 2010 respectivly, the service always required users to run the service from a disc that Netflix offers to users without additional charge. Today, this disc was rendered obsolete when Netflix announced that the service would now be accessible directly from Playstation Network and the Wii Shop Channel.

Users who wish to install the service will find the required downloadables available under the “What’s New” section of the Playstation Network dashboard, or the Netflix Section of the Wii Shop Channel.

Netflix has offered a diskelss Instant Streaming service to Xbox Live Gold members since November 2008.

  1. Yeah, that is cool. Will keep the blu-ray disk as a nice souvenir. I have been watching vids on my PC, but there are just times when I need to use my PC, so streaming off the PS3 is easier.
