The “Red Ring of Death” may be back, warns a recent report by the BBC. The news organization, specifically the BBC Radio 4 show “You and Yours”, spoke to many individuals claiming hardware failures due to Microsoft’s Kinect motion control setup, also claiming that online forums are “buzzing with accounts of consoles showing the Red Ring of Death shortly after plugging in Kinect.” One 10-year old interviewed stating that “We plugged it in the day we got it but only played it a few times before we got the red lights. The next day when we tried it again we still had the red rings of death and haven’t been able to use it since.”

Microsoft, in response to the show, has released a statement saying that “any new instances of the three flashing red lights error are merely coincidental,” claiming hardware failures caused by peripherals is highly unlikely.
