Mojang Specifications, makers of Minecraft, have revealed what will be so big about their upcoming major update – pet wolves.

“Wolves will be a new mob within the game”, Markus “Notch” Persson said. “You can tame it and order it to follow you around, and it’ll work as a pet. They’re fairly rare, but they won’t despawn once you’ve tamed them.” The wolves will react to bones that you can give, porkchop, which you can also give and will also be able to attack enemies.

When asked about adding achievements to the title, which Notch talked about a few months back, he responded with, “We’ve got a couple of people in the office who don’t like achievements in games at all, so the goal is to design something that they’re fine with,” Notch continued, “Achievements will NOT be chores like ‘cut down 10000 trees’, but rather challenges like ‘ride a pig off a cliff. The long term plan is to show achievements and stats from the profile page on [the Minecraft official site] as well, in case you want to brag.” More details can be found off Notch’s official blog.

  1. I really like the Wolves. I could care less about the achievements, but I like that they are making them interesting. Would be cool to try and ride a pig off a cliff.

Minecraft just keeps getting better and better with every update.
