505 Games and developer Rebellion Developments have announced a sequel to Sniper Elite, a tactical shooter that was released for the PC, Playsation 2, first-generation Xbox in 2005. The sequel will be known as Sniper Elite V2.

According to Chris Kingsley, the Chief Technical Officer at Rebellion, Sniper Elite V2 will be the most realistic World War II sniping-experience to date, featuring realistic weapon ballistics. No information about the plot, or the specific theather in which the story willl be set,  is available at this time. The original Sniper Elite featured an American OSS agent on a behind-enemy-lines mission in Berlin during the final days of World War II.

Sniper Elite V2 will be released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.
