While the definition of what makes something art will be up for eternal debate, having your nation’s authority on the subject declare your hobby art never hurts. The National Endowment for the Arts, the US Government’s conduit to which art projects are deemed worthy of federal grants, rewrote its submission requirements for all 2012 projects. The new category Arts in Media (formerly Arts in Radio) now permits work of interactive entertainment alongside all other artistic media. No word yet on any headlining video game submissions, but the decision has been agreed to be a huge step forward for the industry.
