Ubisoft had already been experimenting with transmedia properties with its various multimedia incarnations of Assassin’s Creed, but the French video game developer/publisher is taking it one step further with the creation of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. The Paris-based film division is being headed by former CEO of EuropaCorp Jean-Julien Baronnet, with the express purpose of taking the company’s game properties to the silver screen. No current projects have been announced as of yet.

Think the ex-EuropaCorp brass can make great movies out of Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed? Or will this be another example of a company destined to make bad video game movies? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section!

  1. I think we could see a full fledged Assassin’s Creed movie with this announcement. The short that came out for ACII was great, and I could probably watch a full Assassin’s Creed movie (providing they pick a different character than Ezio).
