During an E3 conference earlier today, EA Games president Frank Gibeau referred to the game currently in development at the new EA-partners studio Respawn Entertainment, as a “sci-fi oriented shooter.” This seems to confirm long-standing rumors that the studio founded by former Infinity Ward employees was working on a futuristic first-person shooter. Gibeau also stated that the Battlefield and Medal of Honor series would each follow a two-year cycle, according to VG247.
The Battlefield and Medal of Honor franchises will ensure that EA publishes at least one military shooter every year, with the recently announced Overstrike by Insomniac Games and the unannounced project by Respawn Entertainment being published at moments where the publishers spots “opportunistic gaps.”
