What began as a teaser in the ticker that runs below the main menu of Deus Ex: Human Revolution became a series of numbers and symbols fresh for the fan community cracking. This started a sort of ARG that resulted in a username and password for a website that housed a cryptic screenshot featuring security footage of a gruffy looking Adam Jenson with the phrase “What is the Missing Link?”. A RSS listing from the game’s official website decodes the question: new downloadable content called – appropriately enough – The Missing Link.
According to the site listing, Jenson has been trapped and augmentation-less on a freighter for the past three days, which leads to a basic survival-oriented escape plan. New environments and ally characters have been confirmed but not detailed. The DLC package is expected sometime in October.
“We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to complete Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC,” producer David Anfossi said in the announcement. “Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being stripped of his use of augmentations, new, visually stunning environments and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s conspiracy rich story.”
