‘Star Wars Galaxies’ to End with Intergalatic War

Sony Online Entertainment will pull the ultimate plug on the MMO Star Wars Galaxies on December 15th, but not before going out with a big bang. A “galaxy ending in-game event” will pit the Rebel Alliance and the Empire (and their respective players) in the end-all war for ultimate victory. Galaxies will be flooded with themed events and content for gamers to complete and earn points for their side.

Points will be tallied per-server, and the side with the larger score will “win the game, and the galaxy, for each server, as well as change the way the game will end and what happens in the final moments”. An active subscription to Galaxies or one of Sony Online’s Game Passes is required for participation, and all must be dated before September 15th. If successful, this uniquely all-inclusive event could end the Galaxies legacy on much a higher note than it has enjoyed since debuting in 2003.

Cool way to end an MMO. Should be pretty interesting for those that play and maybe interesting to everyone else when some videos show up from this event.
