Zipper Interactive Closes
31 Mar, 2012
Sony has confirmed last week’s rumor of a closure of Zipper Interactive (M.A.G., Unit 13). In a statement released to IGN, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios confirmed the studio’s dissolution, while promising to continue to support the company’s currently active online servers and content. “Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm the closure of Zipper Interactive, a Seattle-based internal game development studio that has been part of the global development operation of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS). The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS. Zipper has complete all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita. Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13.”
Sony has yet to announce the studio(s) to be tasked with supporting Zipper’s existing titles like Unit 13, but Elder Geek has sent word for further comment on the matter and is awaiting response.
