In a blogpost over on the Official SEGA Blog, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has announced that Aliens: Colonial Marines is currently set for a release on the 12th of February, 2013. The has been delayed multiple times so far, with publisher SEGA having announced a tentative release date of Fall 2012 only a few months ago. More details are included after the jump.
Pitchford confirmed in his blogpost that the game will be set after the events of the films in the original Alien-trilogy and that it will not retell any of the events that occurred in these films.
Even though the game was fully revealed in the Game Informer issue of February 2008, Pitchford comments that the game had only just entered full production around that time. Development on the title has reportedly not taken longer than that of Borderlands or the original installment in the Brothers in Arms-franchise, but both of these titles were not announced until they were much further along in production.
The game is being developed for PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, as well as Nintendo WiiU. A release date for the WiiU version of Aliens: Colonial Marines will be announced at a later date.
