Finnish developer Rovio Entertainment has announced through a video posted on YouTube that the Angry Birds franchise has reached over 1 billion downloads across all platforms and versions of the game. More information after the jump.

The video posted by Rovio thanks users for their support, and also states that “more amazing things” will be coming soon. The video ends with a shot of Casey from the iOS puzzle game Casey’s Contraptions, suggesting that this franchise may somehow be related to future Rovio products.

Angry Birds was launched in 2009, with several spin-offs including Angry Birds: Rio and Angry Birds: Space having been released in March 2011 and March 2012 respectively. Approximately 25% of all downloaded Angry Birds games have been paid versions, with the remaining downloads all being free-to-play.
